These are a wonderful pair of dainty English white paste dangle earrings, c1800-1840 (late Georgian/very early Victorian). The round cluster dangles suspend from a single paste solitaire and foliate-shaped “arm”. The shepherd crook wires are silver and the pastes are set in silver and backed with gold. The aesthetic of the day was that white stones were more pleasing set in silver, but gold was preferred for areas that touched the skin as it is less prone to tarnish. The reverse setting of the dangle clusters has a beautiful fluted "basket" or sun-ray setting. The earrings are about 1 1/8” long. (#112431)
