Be still my heart! These are an exceptional pair of mid-19thc – probably American – Victorian Berlinworked boots in floral and foliate motifs using red, pink, and green wools on a camel-colored ground. They are edged in wool twill and lined in red wool. The silk tape laces look to be original as they match some piping on the boots - which is itself a rarity. They are pretty big – the soles are about 10.25” long and the boot is about 8.5” high – so I think they were likely made for a man. I have only seen one other like these! They come with a note: “These over shoes were embroidered by Mrs. Marcia A Cushman when she was a little girl. Died March 5th 1879”. As evident from the photos, these have losses to the wool threads throughout and some moth holes to the red wool lining. Please take a good look at the photos and please do not hestitate to ask any questions you might have. (# 152202)
