Unlike the bowls of fruit and vases of flowers seen in most theorems of the early 19th c, this unusual piece shows a lovely young woman in an early empire-cut gown (of muslin, most likely!) sitting in the idylls of nature stringing flowers! This certainly makes a refreshing change! This scene is painted on velvet and housed in a period lemon frame with old glass. The frame is 10.5” x 12.25” and has some expected nicks in the corners. Sight size of the piece is approximately 8.5” x 10.25”.
