An American c1825 miniature 4-drawer chest in the Sheraton style, probably made in New England and in very fine condition. It has a scalloped top, turned legs, and the use of 2 tones of wood is aesthetically very pleasing. Inside one of the drawers is the pencil inscription "AD 1815 AD 1875 / a present to Mary Nichols at 10 years of age / from her grandmother and grandfather." The dates given are likely the dates of birth and death of Mary Nichols herself. Was this the handiwork of her doting grandfather? We will never know. It stands about 9 3/4" high, 10 1/4" wide, and 4 1/2" deep.
Condition: As noted, this little gem is in very fine condition. The banding at the top of 1 side appears to be lifting slightly and there appears to be old repairs to two small areas along the curved edges of one drawer (please see photos).
